Title

Solar Energy

Aim

To see what colour attracts more sun heat.

Hypothesis

I think the colour silver will attract the sun.

Materials

  1. white paper
  2. white cup
  3. black plastic
  4. 1 clear cups
  5. Black plastic cover
  6. tin foil
  7. Cup covered in tin foil
  8. heat lamp
  9. 100ml cup of water
  10. Thermometer
  11. Timer

Steps

  1. Collect all of the materials
  2. Put the white paper on the table
  3. Put the white cup on top of the paper
  4. Put black plastic on the table next to the white paper
  5. Put the cup on the black plastic cover
  6. Put the clear cup in the centre of the plastic
  7. Put the tin foil next to the black plastic
  8. Cover the clear cup with tin foil
  9. Put the heat lamp in front of the cups

The first 15 min the temperature of the white cup is 19.1 degrees.
The next 30 mins the temperature of the black cup is 19 degrees.
On the 40 mins timer, the temperature of the tinfoil cup is 20 degree.

Conclusion

In conclusion, my findings in this experiment state that the colour attracts the heat more. The colour white attracts less heat.
We found out that solar panels are coloured black because black attracts more heat. In other hot countries, they don’t paint their houses black because they don’t want to be hot, so they paint their houses white.
