  1. Russia mobilised their army in just ten days.


  1. Germany had an army of over 4 million. 


  1. Germany thought Britain would stay out of the war but they were wrong.

He is related to Mrs Aplers. They lived in a mud house in Queenstown.

The man worked as a miner and he is married to Jane Godfrey and they

had a son named Arthur Lister.

Early Encounters in Aotearoa

The first explorer to arrive in New Zealand was Abel Tasman in 1642.                          Abel Tasman

He named New Zealand Nouvea Zealandia.
The next explorer to come to NZ was Captain James Cook and he arrived in 1769.
The navigator that helped Captain Cook was Tupaia.
The Europeans brought pigs, potatoes, ship rats and disease.
Then there was the musket war, it ended in the late 1830s.
