Water Filtration Plant

What is filtration?

Filtration is separating solids from liquids by adding a medium through which only the liquid can pass.

Examples are:

  1.  water Filter
  2.  Pool Filters
  3.  Air Filters
  4. Oil Filters

Materials

1.Filter paper
2.funnel
3.sand
4.pebbles
5.container
6.
7.
8.

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )

Step 1

Cut the bottle to make a funnel

Step 2

Put the top half upside down and make a cone out of a filter paper

STEP 3

Add layers of pebble

STEP 4

Get 1 cup of dirty water

STEP 5

Pour the dirty water into the cone.

Findings

Write a short sentence about the water every 1 minute.
Include 'How much water has filtered through', 'How fast it is dripping through', and 'How clear the water is'.

Minutes                          1.                         2.                   3.                    4.                       5.
Drops per minute:          22                       23               20                    21                        19
Water colour:                 yellow           still yellow     yellow               yellow               yellow

Conclusion:
tthe dirty water dropped 22 time per minute.
At the end the water was a little bit yellowish.
The water drops were slow because the sand and the pebbles were in the way.
If you pour the water in and it didn't go through the filtter paper then the water would drop faster but if it when in the filter paper it wouldbe slower.
